About Department

The Department of Sanskrit at Santipur College is dedicated to preserving and promoting one of the most ancient and rich languages of the world. Since its establishment, the department has been committed to imparting knowledge of classical literature, philosophy, grammar, and cultural heritage embedded in Sanskrit texts.

The teaching-learning process combines traditional methods with modern approaches to make the subject accessible and engaging for students. Regular classes, interactive discussions, and textual studies help learners understand the timeless wisdom of Sanskrit as well as its relevance in contemporary times.

The department organises seminars, lectures, and cultural programmes to create awareness about the importance of Sanskrit in shaping Indian thought, literature, and values. Students are encouraged to participate in recitation, shloka chanting, and debates, which enhance both their linguistic skills and appreciation of India’s cultural legacy.
