The Cell ensures a safe and respectful campus, addresses complaints of gender discrimination or harassment, spreads awareness on gender sensitivity, and promotes equality and dignity for all.

Vishaka guidelines The Vishaka guidelines were a set of guidelines that were intended to protect women at the workplace. These were instituted by the Supreme Court of India in the year 1997. These are procedural in nature and state the method that is to be followed while dealing with cases related to the sexual harassment of women. View
POSH Act, 2013 Vishaka guidelines have now been superseded by the Sexual Harassment of women at the workplace (prevention, prohibition and redressal) Act, 2013. View

Proposals / Action Taken

i) Awareness & Sensitization Programs
  1. Proposal for a compulsory Gender Awareness Program for all newly admitted students, including a discussion on the Visakha Guidelines.
  2. Regular workshops and seminars on gender sensitization, sexual harassment, consent, and gender equity.
  3. Invite legal experts, activists, and NGOs to speak on rights, redressal mechanisms, and laws such as the POSH Act (2013).
ii) Gender Sensitization Curriculum
  1. Proposal to include gender awareness modules or orientation sessions in the first year.
iii) Anonymous Grievance Redressal System
  1. Students may directly contact members of the Gender Harassment Cell or their departmental mentors.
  2. Establish a confidential online/offline complaint system, including a complaint box on the college website.
  3. Proposal to provide a drop-box for written anonymous complaints.
iv) Gender Equality Clubs & Peer Groups
  1. Formation of student-led clubs in each department to discuss issues and provide peer support.
  2. Promotion of peer mentoring programs to create safe spaces for sharing experiences.
v) Visual Campaigns on Campus
  1. Display of posters and visual messages promoting gender safety and respect.
vi) Code of Conduct Dissemination
  1. Proposal for digital brochures on the college website highlighting:
    1. Visakha Guidelines
    2. What constitutes harassment
    3. How and where to report
    4. Contact details of Gender Harassment Cell members
vii) Counselling & Mental Health Support
  1. Proposal to provide access to a qualified counsellor for affected students.
viii) Safety Infrastructure Checks
  1. Regular monitoring of CCTV coverage, street lighting, and safe common rooms.
ix) Commemoration of Gender Rights Days
  1. Annual observance of International Women’s Day (March 8).
  2. Proposal to observe International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Nov 25) from the coming session.
