About NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the premier youth organization of India, dedicated to developing qualities of discipline, leadership, patriotism, and service among students. Established in 1948, it functions under the Ministry of Defence and has its units in schools and colleges across the country.

The motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline”, reflecting its vision of grooming young minds into responsible citizens and future leaders of the nation. Through parades, training camps, community service, adventure activities, and social awareness programs, cadets learn the value of teamwork, courage, and resilience.

NCC is open to both boys and girls, and participation instills a sense of pride, self-confidence, and dedication to the nation. Many cadets go on to pursue careers in the armed forces, civil services, and other professional fields, carrying forward the values learned during their training.

For NCC Girls, the program provides a platform to break barriers, demonstrate strength, and contribute equally in the service of society and the nation.

History of NCC Girls’ Unit in Santipur College

Santipur College has a long and proud association with the National Cadet Corps. The Boys’ NCC Unit of the college was established in 1958, giving young male students an opportunity to develop discipline, leadership qualities, and a spirit of national service. Over the decades , the unit played a vital role in shaping responsible citizens and inspiring many to pursue careers in the defence services and other fields of public service.

With the growing participation of women in every sphere of life and the recognition of their equal role in nation-building, the need was felt to provide a similar platform for the female students of the college. This led to the establishment of the Girls’ NCC Wing, ensuring that young women too could benefit from the values of unity, discipline, courage, and service that NCC instills.

The introduction of the Girls’ Wing not only broadened the scope of NCC activities in Santipur College but also empowered the girl cadets to take part in parades, community service, adventure camps, and national-level events with equal enthusiasm. Today, both boys and girls proudly wear the NCC uniform, carrying forward the tradition of dedication, discipline, and patriotism that has been nurtured in the college for decades.
